Through her work with Synergia, Headmistress of Manchester High School for Girls Helen Jeys strengthens her leadership skills and experiences the benefits first hand.
Helen Jeys, Head Mistress, Manchester High School for Girls
Helen Jeys has worked with Synergia Training for 10 years across two different leadership roles at Alderley Edge School for Girls and, since 2020, as the Head Mistress at Manchester High School for Girls.
Employing a bespoke training approach, Synergia has worked with both Helen and her Senior Leadership team on developing strategies and enhancing their leadership skills whilst also supporting personal development skills.
“I’ve worked with Clare from Synergia on strategic leadership, as well as supporting me to manage potentially difficult situations and develop my resilience as a leader”, Helen shared.
Helen believes that Clare’s experience, not just in the education sector, has helped her to solve problems with clear thinking and transparent conversations, saying:
“Clare brings a massive breadth of expertise, not just with educators but also senior executives across a huge range of professions and brings all of that knowledge to her work with me and my team. As an academic, she also brings an awful lot of academic research with her, which is extremely useful.
“She’s demonstrated flexibility when we’ve needed her, dealing with challenging situations on occasion. Clare has also worked with us on project-based work with my senior team and really understands the group dynamics and how best to work together as a team.”
The team training was conducted in-person, whereas Helen’s sessions were completely remote. Helen believes having a bespoke model to deliver sessions is crucial to fitting the needs of each client.
She also praised the work introduced by Clare to allow more conversations, with differing voices and to allow for a wider range of voices to form part of strategies and project work.
As well as working with the Senior Leadership Team, Clare was useful sounding board for Helen, helping her receive honest and knowledgeable feedback on ideas.
“At Headship level it can be very lonely, so having someone like Clare as a sounding board for ideas was always helpful,” Helen said.
Helen concluded by praising the professional and personal development work undertaken by Clare, which has proved crucial to the success of her team, adding,
“I think the depth of her success really has been the professional but personal impact she’s had. Her ability to offer an opposing viewpoint and challenge your thinking is really beneficial as a leader.”
