Our Background

Clare and Jim created the Synergia brand in 2003, when they wanted to find a better work/life balance with their two young children. They both left senior roles in blue chip companies to create the Synergia brand.

Synergia came from synergy – ‘the combined power of a group of things when they are working together that is greater than the total power achieved by each working separately’ (Cambridge English Dictionary).

Initially, their approach was to offer project management and HR management to any organisation that needed those services. As time progressed, they refined their offering to organisational development and in 2008, created Synergia Coaching to reflect the growth of the business within that sector.

Clare worked with her first independent school – Sherborne Girls – in 2005. At that stage, Dr Simon Lettman, HMC, took Clare under his wing and supported her working with schools around leadership development, coaching and solving people problems. Jim continued to grow the project management side of the business with significant contracts within the NHS and private sector.

Experience

Amanda’s industry expertise in the healthcare sector is a huge asset to her role at Synergia Coaching, where one of her responsibilities is the design and delivery of training packages for our clients in the National Health Service.

A qualified NLP Master Practitioner, she began her career as an Audiology Technician for the NHS, a role she served for seven years, before beginning a decade-long spell in a senior sales within the pharmaceutical industry. She moved into training and development in 1999, leading a team of 14 trainers to deliver interventions such as product training, sales training, leadership skills and personal coaching, and is now able to combine these two areas of expertise perfectly.

Amanda works with key NHS stakeholders, to first get to grips with the organisation and really understand their training needs, before designing and implementing training and coaching programmes to support the stakeholder’s key objectives. She has played an influential role in designing and delivering the Invest in You training programme that has helped enhance operational efficiency, improve morale, and ensure more effective management across the Arden Cluster, a management arrangement which brings together NHS Coventry and NHS Warwickshire.

“Synergia already has a well-earned reputation for excellence in the public sector, especially in the healthcare and independent school industries,” says Amanda. “The next stage in the company’s development is to increase its client base in the private sector.”

Experience

Before joining Synergia Coaching in October 2011, Celia worked for 20 years at Telford and Wrekin Council, initially as an Employee Development Officer, before progressing to become Organisational Improvement Consultant. She played a huge role in developing and delivering coaching strategies and coaching programmes across the entire organisation, including designing the Council’s Senior and Team Leadership Development Programmes, with the Senior Leadership Development Programme gaining recognition at the National Training Awards in 2006.

She feels that Synergia has already developed a strong reputation across much of the public sector, in particular within the Police, Healthcare, Further Education and Higher Education sectors, and the company’s long-term strategy should look to expand on this strong foundation and diversify into other areas, particularly the private sector. Especially in the current challenging economic environment, she believes that a key aspect for the coaching sector in general is the ability to encourage a ‘doing more with less people’ ethos through effective teamwork and by developing resilience in both individuals and teams.

Staffs born Celia and her husband are enthusiastic gardeners and open their garden each year for charity as part of the National Garden Scheme. Celia also loves walking both with Cocoa, her chocolate Labrador and undertaking long distance walking challenges. Having completed the 95 mile Staffordshire Way, Celia’s next walk will be the 100 mile Cotswold Way.
